Dixie Chicks

I received an email this morning, notifying me that the Dixie Chicks are coming to Dallas. I personally, do not plan to attend.

I still think that the comments that Natalie Maines made in England in 2003 were inappropriate. I think that the lyrics to their new songs on their recently released CD are a literal "up yours" to that portion of the population who support our President and our country's position in the Iraq.

I was a fan before that moment in 2003. Now, I'm still angry at them. I will not buy their CD. I will not buy any of their CDs. I will not attend their concert.

If you love your country, and support your President, I hope you'll do the same.

I bought the CD a month ago.

I've already bought my concert tickets.

I spent the 6 months after the comment driving around Waco and CRAWFORD with my windows down and the Dixie Chicks blaring.

I am not ashamed he is from Texas, I'm ashamed he is from planet EARTH!

I love my country, and it is because of this love that I do not support the man who stole the Presidency and has ruined every image that the title entails.

I am ashamed of the president and disagree with you completely.

You can support our troops but hate war too.

I think the Dixie Chicks rock and their CD is number 1 like it should be.

Bush sucks. Plain and simple. I admire the Dixie Chicks having the courage to speak out and voice their opinion, however unpopular it was at the time, AND stick to their guns, despite all the controversy and death threats.

I love my country, but I hate what Bush has done to it. He has ruined our reputation and our economy. A divider, not a uniter, and a blustering blowhard fool to boot.

Disagreeing with my position is certainly your right...and politics are something I normally hate discussing. We are free to have our own beliefs here, and hope that our differences in opinion will not stop you from visiting.

Of course I would never stop visiting your blog. I enjoy it. That is what life is about, diff. opinions and respecting each others beliefs.

And thank you, daughter, for being wise enough to see both sides :)

They were on Larry King tonight. It was interesting.

I think the thing that makes me sad is the death threat and the hate. There is no excuse for that.

You can not like what she said, it's your right not to listen to their music or buy their CD but the death thread against Natalie and the hate that people taught their kids was unforgiveable.

I meant death threat not thread. Guess my mind goes quicker than the fingers sometimes.

Invading Iraq has nothing to do with our freedom (or gradual and creeping lack thereof courtesy of the Bush administration).

In addition, saying that you are ashamed that Bush is from Texas has nothing to do with supporting or not supporting the troops.

I agree with you Helen. I hear they have had to cancel some concerts due to poor ticket sales. I'm not losing any sleep over that.
